A model of the Hawker Hurricane that was famously flown throughout the Second World War.
The famous Hawker Hurricane fighter aircraft was not only a Battle of Britain Hero, accounting for 60% of RAF victories, but served in every theatre in the Second World War, first flown in 1935. Some 14,000 Hurricanes were eventually made, including the Sea Hurricane that was developed for use off aircraft carriers. It was a vital part of the air defence of Britain during the Blitz and also played a crucal role over Dunkirk, although suffering heavy losses.
This model is a part of the well known Leonardo range of display goods, is around 16 " long with a 17" wingspan, is roughly finished and made of light tin alloy so will not stand up to the rigours of children's play. It is a desk or study ornament rather than a toy.
