Convalmore Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distilled 1984
Convalmore is one of those distilleries that has remained largely out of the whisky-buying public’s eye due to the fact that there have been almost no official bottlings of its single malt, with its output going primarily in to the blends produced by the giants of the industry.
It was opened in 1894 and was the fourth distillery in Dufftown on Speyside and is still located next to the Balvenie distillery although it closed in 1985 and the workings are now dismantled. The site is now used by William Grant’s for warehousing although the brand is still owned by Diageo.
The Connoisseurs Choice 27yo Convalmore Distilled October 1984, Bottled May 2011 Strength 43% 70cl is a light to medium bodied Speyside Malt with a light and delicate estery nose, fresh hay influences and hints of soft fresh fruits with a delicate peppery edge and some vanilla develops. Taste is mouth warming, sweet, fresh with a subtle influence of creamy toffees. A historic treat for a true malt whisky lover for a wonderful birthday, Christmas or Father's Day present.
